Diane Buckler’s work is primarily photographic and sculptural, heavily invested in feminist ideas and trajectories. A student of John Baldassari's at CalArts, Buckler was a conceptual artist. She taught and worked in Los Angeles until moving to Bali, Indonesia, and then to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Buckler worked in graphite, acrylics, metal, clay, granite and photography. Part of the "Pictures" generation Buckler's work is included in the Metropolitan's exhibition of the same name, curated by Douglas Eklund. Buckler's work is in many private and public collections including the Long Beach Museum of Art, LA County Museum of Art, MOCA and the Met.
Diane Buckler passed away at her home in 2008, after a fierce two year battle with cancer. She is survived by her musician son and artist husband.
